What does exploration look like at ECM?
ECM inhabits the spirit of community by encouraging your questions around religion and faith as they relate to your journey. Folks at ECM know they can bring their full selves—their cultural backgrounds, languages, faith-practices, questions, and even doubts, with a sense of curiosity. Our guiding philosophy is: “Humans welcome, no strings attached!”—and we practice this towards ourselves and towards one another.
ECM is committed to inclusion, diversity, and belonging. Folks at ECM also care deeply about the environment and pragmatically addressing the climate crisis. Bottom line:: Bring your questions, bring your full self, bring your passion for justice--we welcome your curiosity without strings attached! |
How can I explore my questions?
There are several ways for you to explore your questions.
ECM also has programming and resources dedicated to broadening your theological horizons.
Come check out our book selections at 904 Sunset Avenue. There are lots of resources for you to explore! Or, you can cozy up by our fireplace and discuss your questions at "Chewy Theology"--a book club which meets when a group has a question they want to explore together. We have discussed Feminist/Womanist Theology, which focuses on the experiences and leadership of women in the Bible and in the greater Church; Eco-Theology, which focuses on the relationship between the natural world and human beings. Maybe you want to discuss the impacts of racism in society? Black Liberation Theologians, like James Cone, are important thinkers in this field. Have a topic you would like to explore? Want to talk about the history of Christianity in the United States? That's great too!
If you are on the go, download our podcast: "I've Never Thought of It That Way Before" streaming on Spotify.
If you would like to speak one-on-one with someone about your questions, Pastor Christian is available for coffee and conversation.
Want to deep dive into Eco-Theology? Check out our Sustainability Retreat which happens every semester!
Ready to talk with folks who are as curious as you? Come to our Real Food Lunch on Fridays during the school year.
Have another idea? Let's make it happen! ECM is a space for your creativity to flourish.

ECM at KSU "ECM feels safe. You sit down to a meal [at RFL] and hear so many different languages. I don't worry about not being from the US. It's home to me at K-State." -Gaby "ECM encouraged me when others didn't. I couldn't have done it without this community. I just want to give back." -Sam "Every time you are at ECM, you are reminded that you are welcome. It's awesome." -Javier |
